April Fool's Day will be a day Pat Clayton of Rector will remember as a day good news came without the traditional prank. Clayton claimed a winning $200,000 prize from the Arkansas State Lottery Monday, April 1. Clayton traveled to the Lottery Claim Center in Jonesboro to submit her winning instant ticket, a Diamond Fortune scratch-off card purchased from Sam's Mini Mart in Marmaduke.

The $200,000 prize is the richest winnings on record in Clay County, according to Lottery officials.

According to a release by the ASL, Clayton plans to "update her home and buy a new car" with some of her winnings.

Monday was a good day for area lottery players. A Trumann man claimed $40,000 in winnings and a Paragould man won $100,000, but both were overshadowed by Clayton's good fortune.
