Donald Wilkes, 80, of Piggott, Ark., passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013, at his home.
He was born on July 21, 1932, in Pollard, Ark., and was the son of the late Joseph Curtis and Ethel Brady Wilkes.
He was united in marriage to Alice Mayberry on Dec. 24, 1955. She preceded him in death on March 28, 2013.
Donald was a Deacon and longtime member at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Piggott, Ark. He was an Army Veteran serving from 1953 until 1955.
He is survived by his son, Steve Wilkes of Greenway, Ark.; three daughters, Debra Harmon and husband Dennis of Piggott, Ark., Janet Hobbs and husband Ray of Paragould, Ark. and Dawn Sanders and husband Barry of Rector, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and two soon-to-be great-great-grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Bro. Danny Self officiating. Burial is in New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Ark. Pallbearers are Dennis Harmon, Barry Sanders, Ray Hobbs, Christopher Hager, Shawn Hager and Brian Biggs. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Wilkes, Danny Hager, A.J. Hager, Cory Hager and Cody Hager. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark., is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
