Weather Forces Re-Schedule of Piggott Ball Games

Monday, April 29, 2013
The Lady Mohawks rush to the plate to celebrate scoring the winning run in last week's semi-final victory over Manila.

Due to wet weather last week, the Piggott Mohawk's district semi-final games were re-scheduled to today, Monday, April 29.

Both Mohawk squads are scheduled to play at 3:30 p.m., and both teams are facing top-seeded Rivercrest in their semi-finals.

The Lady Mohawks are hosting the 3A-3 softball tournament at Independence Park, while the boy's team is taking part in the baseball tourney at Manila.

Both squads posted first round wins, and have reserved themselves berths in the regional at Bergman (Harrison) later this week.

Both teams advanced in dramatic fashion, with the Tribe exploding for an eight run inning to beat Hoxie. Meanwhile, the Lady Mohawks came from two runs down with two out in the home half of the seventh, and scored on a wild pitch to win their contest.

Both semi finals, and the championship game are slated for this afternoon and early evening.
