Juanita Kemp Vernon, 94 of St. Francis, passed from this life on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at the Piggott Community Hospital. She was born on April 6, 1919, in rural Piggott to the late Robert Earl and Zelpha Jane (Hutchison) Mann. She spent most of her life in the Piggott community, worked as a store clerk, and was of the Baptist faith.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents: Robert and Zelpha Mann; husbands: R.L. Kemp, Mitchell Vernon; and eleven brothers and sisters.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Don and Mathilde Kemp and Mitchel and Elaine Vernon; three grandchildren, Steven Kemp, Jennifer Vernon and Beth Holloway; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and special niece, Faith Conley, along with a host of other close relatives and friends.
A celebration of life was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27 at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Piggott with Dr. Gary Gregory and Bro. O.H. Brooks officiating. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until service time at the Piggott Chapel. Interment followed the service at Piggott Cemetery.
