Magleen Pillow Porterfield, of Piggott, Ark. died, May 2, 2013, at the age of 92. She was born in Pollard, Ark., on August 25, 1920, along with her twin, Kathleen Seal. She was one of seven daughters and three sons of the late Rev. S. R. Pillow and Nora (Johnson) Pillow.
She married Earl Porterfield in January 1938, and they were married sixty-four years before his death in August, 2002. She is survived by one daughter: Judy Sharp and husband Lewis, of Piggott, Ark.; and two sons: Sam Porterfield and wife Diane, of Hot Springs, Ark. and Tom Porterfield and wife Starla of Louisville, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three sisters: Lorene Nicholas, Imogene Underwood and Hazel Johnson; and two brothers: John, and Bill Pillow and one granddaughter: Sarah Porterfield.
In addition to her children she is survived by three sisters: her beloved twin, Kathleen Seal of Piggott, Ark., Shirley Whaley of Piggott, Ark. and Barbara Mooney of North Palm Beach, Fla.; and one brother: Tom Pillow of Melbourne, Fla. Five grandchildren: Jennifer Collins (Tony Collins) of Springdale, Ark., Anne Porterfield of Batesville, Ark., Tenessa Porterfield (Matt Patterson), and Tim Porterfield (Charlotte Porterfield), all of Raleigh, N.C., and Paul Porterfield of Quincy, Ill. Ten great-grandchildren: Tristan Isley, of Batesville, Ark., Caleb and Leila Porterfield of Illinois and California; Chi Egan, Eowyn "Winnie", and Rhys Patterson of Raleigh, N.C.; Ashbey and Thomas Porterfield of Raleigh, N.C. and Jackson and Cooper Collins of Springdale, Ark.
"Mag" was a fun loving lady, who enjoyed herself with friends and family. She was a perfectionist when it came to her home, her cooking and her yard work. A tireless woman who set an example to her children about work ethics and devotion to her family and enjoying life.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Tom Porterfield, Sam Porterfield and Bill Seal officiating. Pallbearers were: Lewis Sharp, Jim Seal, Bill Seal, Tony Collins, Tim Porterfield, Paul Porterfield and Tristan Isley. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark. was in charge of the arrangements. Visitation was held Monday morning prior to the service.
