Rector Trap Teams Dominate in Brookland Competition

The Rector junior shooting sports program dominated a recent event at Brookland, earning first and third with its two teams. Two teams of Rector competitors stood out at an Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports competition held April 20 at Brookland. The Rector junior shooting teams, Camo With Ammo and Clay Slayers, ranked among the very best at the event. Camo With Ammo finished first in the event, while Clay Slayers finished third.

Camo With Ammo finished with an event-best score of 170. Hunter Ellis led the way with a score of 45, also claiming the individual high score trophy at the event. Other scores on the team were: Chance Scott, 43; Garrett Groves, 35; Alec Smith, 24 and Blake Boyd, 23.

The Clay Slayers finished third with a team tally of 121. Individual scores for the event were: Case Watson, 30; Tabor Trail, 29; Cutter Guite, 28; Sam Simmons, 26 and Hunter Householder, 8.

A team from Brookland finished second in the shoot with a total of 135 points.

"They did a great job," Rector coach Joseph Scott said of his team. "These boys enjoy competing in these events, and put in a lot of time and effort to succeed."

The squads are gearing up for district level competition May 17 at Lonoke.
