Piggott High School Set for Graduation
A new chapter in life will begin Friday, May 18 for the graduating class of Piggott High School for 2013, as commencement exercises are scheduled for 7 p.m. in the PHS gym. The building will be packed with family, friends and well-wishers, as 72 class members are slated to receive their diplomas. A total of 28 honor graduates will also be recognized, and thousands of dollars in scholarships awarded.
This year two outstanding seniors excelled academically, and will serve as co-valedictorians for the class of 2013. They are, in alphabetical order, Collin Benbrook and Dylan Howell.
Other Honor Graduates, in alphabetical order, include Tyler Bennett, Lucas Brewer, Kayla Chase, James Copelin II, Allison Crittenden, Casey Evans, Haley French, Hunter French, Lakyn Fry, Ashley Harryman, McKain Holman, Vanessa Johnson, Larerick Little, Meagan Massey, James Maynard, Kayla Morgan, Logan Murray, Bailey Reagan, Alexandrea Redmon, Enoch Richardson, Jordan Stallings, Josh Stone, Shana Wagster, Joshua Welborn, Brody Williams and Mallory Wright.
The remaining members of the Piggott High School class of 2013, in alphabetical order include--Drew Adams, Linda Anderson, Falysia Barr, Amanda Bell, Joseph Burdin, Stephanie Burdin, Ethan Burns, Rachel Casey, Rahsaan Cole, Morgan Day, Keri Edwards, Sierra Faught, Billy Franks, Kevin Ganus, Joelle Gordon, Angelia Haines, Robby Higgins, Hollie Holcomb, Cortney Hyten, Brandon Johnson, Anthony Jones, Jamie Laster, Cody Mantz, Tony Martin, Tyler Martin, Taylor McGuire, Caleb Meadows, Levi Miller, Rebecca Morris, Hannah Potts, Brittany Ralph, Brett Rea, Hunter Samples, Jake Scott, Alex Seal, David Shipman, Chantel Smith, April Speer, Zachary Stokes, Steven Tate, Josh Threatt, Brooke Townsend, Beau Wicker and Micayla Wright.
The evening will begin with the processional "Pomp and Circumstance" by the PHS Band, as the class makes their entrance into the gymnasium. Also on the program is a special performance by the PHS choir.
Also scheduled are the valedictorian's addresses by Howell and Benbrook. Those will be followed by the distribution of special scholarships and awards by high school counselor Amber Harrell.
Next, Superintendent Charlie Powell will have the opportunity to present the graduating class.
Piggott High School Principal Barry DeHart will then assist school board president Trent Holcomb, and secretary Neil Morgan, in awarding the diplomas.
Afterward the class will join in singing the PHS alma mater, and take part in the recessional.
This year's class officers include President Josh Welborn, Vice President Cody Mantz, Secretary Hunter French and Treasurer Kayla Morgan. The class flower is the Stargazer, the class colors are black and silver and the class song is "I Go Back" by Kenny Chesney. The class sponsors for this year are Stephanie Goode, Sandra Little, Paul Seegraves, Nikki Speer and Jon Wellman.
