Louis Nettles, 95 of Piggott passed away May 24, 2013 at the Piggott Community Hospital. He was born June 20, 1917, to the late Johnny and Lula (Thompson) Nettles in Pollard, Arkansas. Louis served our country in World War II and after coming back to the area, he reenlisted for a year and helped start the National Guard in Piggott. He was very active in the VFW and the American Legion. He also loved to whittle, hunt, garden and fish. He had over 40 fishing rods collected.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Lorene (Fulks) Nettles; two sons and their wives, Louis Larry Nettles and Frances of Pensacola, Fla. and Jerry Lynn Nettles and Paulette of Piggott; three grandsons, Scottie Nettles, Wayne Nettles and Jason Nettles; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a brother, James Nettles of Maine; two sisters, Nadine Dowdy of Rector and Mary Lockard of Michigan; along with numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend to the family, Judy Nettles.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 28 at Irby Funeral Home in Piggott. Interment Followed at the Piggott Cemetery.
