Laura Lucille Goodrich
Laura Lucille Goodrich (Laura Lucille Stark) passed away on June 6, 2013 of small-cell lung cancer. Lucy was born on October 29, 1944 the third of eight children, to Charlie and Vina Cox in Santa Paula, Calif. She graduated from Nordhoff High School in Ojai, Calif. in 1962. Lucy then married Charles W. Stark on March 16, 1963. They had three children and moved to Arkansas in 1973 and to Piggott, Ark. in 1976. Lucy and Chuck divorced in 1989, and she moved back to Ojai, Calif. Lucy then married Abijah V. Goodrich, Jr. (Van) on March 6, 1995. Lucy and Van moved to Mesa, Ariz. in 2000 and began enjoying the retirement life. They made lifelong friends through the VA, bingo and the reunion trips they took with Van's shipmates from his Naval days. They then moved to San Manuel, Ariz. in 2004. Lucy was diagnosed with small-cell lung cancer in Feb., 2012 and she attacked the disease with every ounce of fight and courage known to mankind!
The cancer proved to be stronger, though, and it claimed her life after a one and a half year battle. Lucy laughed, cried, and never gave up. She loved everyone she met, and her courage, love and laughter will live on through her children and grandchildren. She will not be forgotten. Lucy is survived by husband, Van Goodrich of San Manuel, Ariz.; son Chuck Stark of Castle Rock, Colo.; daughter Tina Beyer and her partner Carolyn Stone of San Manuel, Ariz.; daughter Carrie Stark of Ojai, Calif.; mother Vina Cox and sister Flossie of Mansfield, Ark.; brothers Jim Cox of Indio, Calif. and John Cox of Indiana; sister Shirley Bell of OKC, Okla.; grandsons Eric Stark of Castle Rock, Colo. and Dakota Freeman of Ojai, Calif. numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles from Arkansas, Oklahoma California, and several other states. There will be no services as she wished to be cremated. There may be a memorial service to celebrate her life in California at a later date not yet determined.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
