Clay County 4-H Members Bring Home Hardware
The Arkansas State 4-H O'Rama was held July 23 to 26 at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, and Clay County was well represented. On hand from Clay County were six students, two adult volunteers and two county extension agents. While at the event the students took part in a variety of statewide competitions.
Austin Raspberry and Caleb Welborn, both of Piggott, took part in the statewide ATV safety competition. Raspberry earned a sixth place finish, while Welborn brought home seventh place honors.
Meanwhile, Joseph Hargrave of Rector competed in the Public Speaking competition and finished fifth. Also placing was Thomas Arnold of Corning, as he took fifth place in Reporting. And, Rahsaan Cole of Piggott earned third place honors in the Tractor division.
And, earning a first place finish in the Performing Arts, Vocal Division, was the talented Megan Johnson of Piggott.
Agent Ron Baker and Angie Welborn of the Piggott Extension office made the trip with the young contestants, along with adult volunteers Kenneth and Lisa Hargrave of Rector.
