Mattie R. Pleasant
Mattie R. Pleasant, 84, of Campbell, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
Mrs. Pleasant, daughter of Maryland and Thelda (Gregory) Mallady, was born on September 17, 1928 in Greenway, Ark.
She was a retired medical technician for the General Baptist Nursing Home, a care giver and a housewife. She was a member of the Whitaker Chapel General Baptist Church.
On Jan. 29, 1947, in Piggott, Ark., she was united in marriage to William Edward Pleasant. He preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 2010.
Her survivors include a daughter-in-law, Jeanette Pleasant of St. Francis, Ark.; one grandson, Jerry Pleasant and wife, Cindy, of Campbell; three granddaughters, Lisa Pleasant Sielert and husband, Scott, of Dexter, Elisabeth (Pleasant) Wofford and husband, Edward, and Jennifer (Pleasant) Lewis and husband, Tommy, all of Jonesboro; eight great-grandchildren, Tyler George, Steven Wofford, Halley Sielert, Mason George, Seth Wofford, Sydney Wofford, Olivia Lewis and Vivian Lewis; one sister, Gladys Hanners of Bangor, Mich.; a brother-in-law, Gerald Pleasant of Campbell along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Eddie Lee Pleasant and William Edward Pleasant, Jr.; one brother, Bill Mallady and one sister, Leona Beachum.
Visitation was set to begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013 at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell with funeral services set to begin at 12 p.m., noon. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Campbell.
