Dovie May Champ
Dovie May Champ, 92, of Piggott, Ark., passed away Monday, August 12, 2013, at the Piggott Community Hospital.
She was born on October 4, 1920, in Moscow, Tenn., and was the daughter of the late Zanie Martin and Mandie Jane (Wilson) Scott.
She was united in marriage to Charles Robley Champ on May 9, 1943. He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 2008.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Margaret Mann; a very special aunt and uncle, William Nathan and Cleo Scott; her half-sister, Melissa Otto and a special cousin, Billy Scott.
Dovie was a cook at the V.A. Hospital, and for the Piggott School District, for many years until she retired.
Survivors include her sons, Charles William Champ and wife Tatyana of Statesboro, Ga. and Steven Alan Champ and wife Katherine of Piggott, Ark.; five grandchildren, Tami Eppard and husband Patrick, Shana Greening and husband Derek, Kerry Champ and wife Jessica, Brett Mann and wife Amanda and Jennifer Champ; eleven great-grandchildren, Ella, Kaleb, Katelyn, Kegan, Patience, Alex, Dillon, William, Wesley, Kia and Cobe; one half-brother, William Charles Scott of Oregon, one half-sister, Pamela Anderson of Michigan; special cousins: John and Geraldine Scott, James and Jonelle Scott, and Danny and Phyllis Scott and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Charles Carrens and Charles Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers are Patrick Eppard, Derek Greening, Kerry Champ, Brett Mann, Kaleb Greening and Alex Gibson. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark., is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held beginning at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
