Kemp Joins Rector Clinic Staff
Long-time patients of the Rector Medical Clinic are likely already familiar with Justin Kemp, APN. The nurse practitioner has been working a limited schedule at the local healthcare center for the past year. While Kemp's role is expanding, he is now at Rector Medical Clinic Wednesdays and Fridays in addition to working at the Paragould Doctor's Clinic Mondays and Tuesdays, many in the community have seen him grow from a young age. Kemp has spent much time in the Rector area alongside his father, Dr. Len Kemp, one of the clinic's founding doctors.
"I love this community," Justin Kemp said. "I've been coming here for years, and I could always tell there was something special about it. In Rector, you get more of a sense of a close-knit community than you do in bigger places. Even if you're not from here, it feels like home to you."
Kemp is a 2012 graduate of the Arkansas State University School of Nursing Nurse Practitioner Program. Through his work and previous experiences in Rector, he is forming lasting relationships with patients throughout the community.
"When you see people regularly, they become friends and even like a part of the family," Kemp said. "That's the most rewarding part of working in the medical field."
Kemp says his father has been a large influence on his medical career, as was growing up around Rector and Paragould clinics.
"My father is an obvious influence, but so are the others who I've met through the years here at the clinic. I saw the work they were doing and what it meant to their patients. As I grew, I saw an opportunity to help people, and made the decision to work in the medical field myself. I can't imagine doing anything else."
Kemp and his wife, Emerald, have an infant daughter, Pearl.
"Having a family of your own definitely makes an impact on how you view the world. Having our daughter has been enlightening. When you have a child, then see someone bringing in their child for care, you know how those parents feel. You can see things from a parent's perspective."
In his spare time, Kemp enjoys spending time with his family. He enjoys numerous outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, backpacking and hiking.
Rector Medical Clinic will host a special reception welcoming Kemp and Dr. Vincent Lee from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 27 at the clinic. All patients and everyone in the community are invited to attend in order to meet the new additions and enjoy refreshments.
"I hope the whole community comes out," Kemp said. "I hope to see a lot of familiar faces and some new ones, too."
