Fifth and sixth grade campers go through drills on the gridiron of Parker Field

Over 60 young athletes from the Piggott area, and a few from Southeast Missouri, gathered Saturday, Aug. 24, at Parker Field for a pee wee football mini-camp. The camp was designed to acquaint young players in grades three through six with the basics of the game, and a sign-up for the upcoming season was also held in conjunction with the event. Volunteers, and several of the Mohawk coaches, put the campers through their paces for over two hours. At the conclusion of the camp all those taking part had the chance to run an obstacle course to test their skills.

The cost for players this year is $20, and helmets, shoulder pads, mouth guards and jerseys are provided. This year's pee wee football games will be played on Tuesday evenings at Parker Field, with practice and the first games set for sometime after the Labor Day Holiday.
