Mohawk and Cougar Golf Teams in Action
Golf season is now in full swing across the region, with area teams seeing a good deal of action. Monday afternoon the Piggott Mohawks hosted the teams from Rector, Corning, Marmaduke and Harrisburg at Sugar Creek Country Club.
On the day the Bobcats took top honors, carding a 136, while the Mohawks shot 145 for second, Rector had a 152 for third, Harrisburg had a 164 for fourth place and the Marmaduke squad shot a 165.
Low medalist was Seth Robinson from Corning with a 39.
The host Mohawks took second behind Noah May's 46, while Austin Murray shot a 49, Garrett Cook carded a 55, Jordan Blascoe had a 50, Peyton Mann shot a 54, Reese Gurley had a 47 and Mason Rahn shot a 60.
The Rector Cougars were paced by Alex Scott with a 45, while Lawson Ford had a 53 and River Rice shot a 54.
In girls' action the Lady Mohawk's lone player, Ashlee Vaughn, was low medalist with a 51 while Mikayla Morrow of Corning shot a 52.
Last week the Mohawks, Cougars and Harrisburg Hornets took part in a match at Corning with the host Bobcats taking the win. The Mohawks were third, with Noah May the low medalist with a 42, and good rounds from Blascoe, Mann and Gurley to combine for a 165.
In girl's play Ashlee Vaughn of Piggott was once-again low medalist with a 51, and once-again Morrow of Corning was second with a 52.
The Mohawk golf squad was scheduled to be back in action Tuesday, Aug. 27 at Corning. Thursday they'll be on the road at the Thunder Bay course in Blytheville for a non-conference set with the Armorel Tigers.
