Dewayne "Pete" Finley

Dewayne "Pete" Finley, born July 26, 1938, in Dunklin County, Mo., passed from this life on Aug. 31, 2013, at 75 years and 36 days old.

Pete worked on Crockett's Farm until Mr. Vivan Jones retired from farming on Holly Island. He also worked for Mrs. Cliff Carter at Neighbor Corner.

Pete liked to fish and hunt. For the last few years, he spent his time sitting on the front porch on County Road 481. He will be missed by those not seeing him there day after day.

Pete was preceded in death by his father, Lee Willard "Pal" Finley; mother, Kattie Ellen (Weller) Finley and sister, Jessie Mae (Finley) Hurt in June 2013.

He is survived by his brother, Carl J. Finley and wife Peggy, who resides at 2362 CR 481, Rector; nephews, David Finley, Phillip Finley of Marmaduke and Carl J. Finley, Jr. of Mesquite, Texas; nieces, Georgia (Hurt) Massey and husband Wallace of Rector, Donna Kay (Hurt) Wheat of Rector, Brenda Ann (Finley) Fivecoat of Dallas and Courtney N. (Finley) Johnson and husband Eli Johnson of Kennett and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2013, in the Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Charles Carrens officiating. Burial followed in New Hope Cemetery in Pollard. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
