Mary Janette Winchester
Janette Winchester, 82 passed from this life on Sept. 4, 2013, at the Arkansas Methodist Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born July 8, 1931, to the late James Rueben and Sybile (Edwards) Martin.
She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Rector and taught Sunday school to the preschool children for many years. She was better known as Nanny to the many children that she kept throughout the years and was loved dearly by them all and their parents for the special care she gave them.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Winchester and a brother, Jim Martin.
She is survived by a son and his wife, Donald and Barbara Winchester of Bono; a daughter and her husband, Darlene and Paul Tanner of Piggott; four grandchildren, Amy and Karry Davis of Paragould, Ashlie and Tom Blume of Jonesboro, Brant Tanner and Blake Tanner of Piggott; five great-grandchildren, Corey X. Blume, Kyle Davis, Cody Davis, Clay Tanner and Cole Tanner; a brother and his wife, Bill and Barbara Martin of (Martinville) Rector; a sister-in-law, Pat Martin; special friends, Tweet Thrasher and Willodean Whitaker and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at the First General Baptist Church in Rector. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at the church with Brad Gilbert and Mark Book officiating. Interment will be at the Woodland Heights Cemetery.
