The Piggott Lady Mohawks got their first conference win of the season last week, and competed in an invitational at Southaven, Miss. over the weekend. Monday night they traveled to Kennett for a set with the Lady Indians and swept the night. Tuesday, Sept. 10, they were slated to host CRA in an important conference set at Piggott High.

The Tribe's first conference win under new coaches Nikki Speer and Melissa Turner came last Thursday, Sept. 5, as the Mohawks swept Cedar Ridge in three straight sets.

Saturday the senior squad made the trip to Southaven, and swept their pool. But, the Mohawks then fell to their talented hosts as they continued to prep for the tough conference schedule at hand.

Monday night the Mohawks made the short trip to Kennett and took on the Lady Indians, winning in four sets. The Mohawks took the first set 25-15 and prevailed 25-14 in the second. Their hosts rebounded in the third, and held on for a 25-21 win. But, in the nightcap the Tribe made their best showing of the evening, as they rolled 25-11.

Leading the way was Kacey Crossfield with 13 kills. Crossfield, and Bre Chandler, also had five aces each and Taylor Davis recorded 25 assists in the wins.

Tuesday night was "Black Out" night at PHS, as Lady Mohawk fans were encouraged to dress in black and fill the gym in support of the Tribe as they took on the Lady Falcons of Crowley's Ridge Academy. The Tribe took the match in five sets, winning the tie-breaker 15-7. Complete details and stats may be found in the Sept. 18, edition of the CCTD.

Thursday, Sept. 12, their conference schedule continues with a trip to Hoxie for a full set of games with the Lady Mustangs. This Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13 and 14, the junior squad is scheduled to take part in the annual "Blazer Blast" tournament at Valley View.

The conference schedule will resume Tuesday, Sept. 17, as the Mohawks host a much-improved Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcat squad at PHS. They'll be back on the road Thursday, Sept. 19, with a set at Harrisburg and the senior squad will be taking part in the annual ASU Playday Saturday, Sept. 21, at Jonesboro.
