Imogene Birmingham, 90, of Piggott, Ark., passed away Monday, September 16, 2013, at her home.
She was born on June 14, 1923, in Lowndes, Mo., and was the daughter of the late Oscar William and Eda Edline Smith Mullins. Imogene had nine siblings, Carrie, Eunice, Aubrey, Beulah, Lowell, Oren, Homer, Inez and Robert. Imogene was next to the youngest of the ten children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings, and a great-grandson, Alexander Rains.
She was united in marriage to Carl Birmingham on Dec. 31, 1968.
Imogene was a member of the First Christian Church in Piggott, Ark. She loved gardening, flowers - especially roses, fishing, camping and playing pitch. However, her greatest love was her husband and family - especially the babies.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Carl Birmingham; three daughters: Jeanie (Stuart) French of Belton, Mo., Joanie (Joe) Rains of Bethel, Mo., and Patti (Linn) Devault of Sikeston, Mo.; seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren with a baby girl due in December; and two great-great grandchildren and other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, in the First Christian Church in Piggott, Ark., with Alan Vaughn officiating. Burial was in Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo. Pallbearers were Stu French, Joe Rains, Linn Davault, Larry Rains, Wesley Rains, Hank Ellis, Russell Star and Seth Easton. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark., was in charge of the arrangements. Visitation was held Thursday evening at the church.
