Tickets are now on sale for the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce annual awards banquet, set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the Piggott Community Center. Organizers note tickets must be purchased by Friday, Oct. 4, to allow an accurate count for the caterer. Tickets are $22 each for both members and non-members, and officials noted you do not have to be a member of the local Chamber of Commerce to attend.

"The chamber has made some changes for this year's event, and we're excited to have the opportunity to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of our businesses and community leaders with an awards ceremony," noted chamber secretary Jan Glover.

She reported nomination forms were sent to chamber members last month, allowing them to vote on several categories of awards. These included recognition for outstanding customer service, beautification, and a "Taste of Piggott" award. The organization will also recognize those selected as this year's outstanding educator, farmer, volunteer and emergency personnel worker. A special award will also be given out for the 2013 "Youth of the Year" and the "You Made it Happen" award will be presented for community activism.

The Chamber of Commerce is also continuing the tradition of the annual table decorating contest, and this year's theme is "Strut Your Stuff." Businesses are encouraged to decorate a table promoting their business, or the City of Piggott in general. "This will give you an opportunity to show everyone what your business has to offer," Glover explained. "And prizes will be awarded for most creative, most elegant, visitor's choice and the judge's favorite "WOW" factor award."

"Support by local businesses and individuals have also generated a number of great items for our annual silent auction," she explained. "Everyone needs to make plans to come by and enjoy the fun while they check out some great buys."

Those wanting to purchase tickets, or obtain more information concerning the event, may call the Chamber of Commerce office at 870 598-3167. Or, interested parties may visit the chamber office in the depot building during regular business hours.
