Ross Coleman "R.C." Burns, 72, of Rector, passed away on Oct. 14, 2013, at the St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center. He was born Aug. 21, 1941, in Knobel to Carl and Phyllis (Hart) Burns. He enjoyed fishing and camping and having cookouts with his family, doing yard work, watching wrestling and playing checkers at Flash Market with all of his friends.

He is survived by his mother, Phyllis Burns; his wife, Norma Vandiver; a son, Donald Ray Vandiver II of Paragould; his daughters and a son-in-law, Lenore Vandiver of Paragould, Dawn Stewart of Rector, Pam Anderson and Rob of Paragould and April Taylor of Paragould; twenty-two grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Carlos Burns; a sister and brother-in-law, Pauletta and Dewain Whitehorn of Bryon, Ill.; two nephews and three great-nephews.

His visitation begins at 12 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at the Irby Funeral Home in Rector with the funeral service starting at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Woodland Heights Cemetery.
