Burtis Leon Tate
Burtis Tate, 75, of Heber Springs, passed away October 12, 2013, at the White County Medical Center. He was born March 31, 1938, to the late Burtis and Lydia (Smart) Tate in Greenway. He was involved with the International Church Planner and took part in many mission trips. He was a deacon of the Tumbling Shoals Baptist Church, a member of the Gideon's International and the Lake Ministry and a member of the Lions Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol (Beebe) Tate.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Hutchinson) Tate; a son, Bryan Tate of Huntsville, Alabama and a daughter, Shawna DeBusk of Cabot; four grandchildren and his siblings, Linuel Tate, Ricky Tate and Etta Faye Lance, all of Piggott, Tommy Tate of Jonesboro, Terry Tate of Campbell and Don Tate of Tucson, Arizona.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2013, at the Irby Funeral Home in Piggott with the funeral beginning at 2 p.m. Interment will be at the Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway.
