Remains of Missing Man Found Near Rector
The search for a missing Rector man concluded Sunday, Oct. 27, when two area farmers found the remains of John Buckmaster in a ditch northeast of Rector, approximately one mile from where the 28-year-old man was last seen on Sept. 14.
The Clay County Sheriff's Department, Clay County Task Force, local fire departments and many volunteers took part in the search for Buckmaster, who had recently moved to the area from Moore, Okla.
The remains were transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory in Little Rock where a positive identification was made via dental records.
Clay County Sheriff Gerald McClung said he does not believe foul play was involved in Buckmaster's death.
Buckmaster was last seen leaving a home on County Road 483 near Rector on Saturday, Sept. 14. The CCSD was contacted Sunday, Sept. 15, regarding Buckmaster's absence, at which time the search began.
