Cougar Boys and Girls Post Wins
The Lady Cougars rolled to 6-0 with a 98-33 dismantling of the hosting Lady Zebras Friday night in Black Rock.
Defense led to offense for Rector on the night, as the Lady Zebras had trouble handling the stifling Lady Cougar press.
"Our defense has made the difference in these early games," RHS coach Matt Dean said. "Our press has forced turnovers and led to easy baskets."
The lady Cougars jumped out to a 24-8 first quarter lead and never looked back. RHS led 47-18 at intermission and 84-25 going into the fourth quarter.
Four Lady Cougars reached double figures in scoring on the night. Marla Crancer led the way with a game-high 18 points. Kendal Gunn finished with 13 in the win. Black Rock, which will consolidate with Walnut Ridge next year, did not field a junior high team, so the Junior Lady Cougars did not play Friday.
