Santa and Mrs. Claus will return to Piggott on Saturday, Dec. 7 for the annual Christmas Fest.

Two annual events are set in the coming weeks, marking the official start of the holiday shopping season.

The Rector Community Center will be having a Fall Craft Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 at the Rector Community Event.

Approximately 30 exhibitors have signed up to showcase their talents. Some of the crafts and merchandise announced for sale are: Wreaths, jelly, American Girl and Barbie clothes, garden art, jewelry, cookies, cakes, cupcakes, cedar wood swings, glassware, airplanes, needlework and crochet, scarves, survival bracelets, Rada, quilts, hair bows, towels, handmade aprons, Mary Kay products, hats, handmade soap, paper tree ornaments purses, wallets, Scentsy products, weight loss and health products, scarves, leather goods, and Christmas decorations.

Admission is free and door prizes will be given away. There also will be a concession stand selling breakfast, lunch and snacks.

Meanwhile, jolly old St. Nick will be visiting downtown Piggott on Saturday, Dec. 7, as he and Mrs. Claus are slated to be special guests at the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce Christmas Fest. The local holiday celebration is set for that date, and offers a full schedule of fun and festivities--including the annual Christmas Parade at 10:30 a.m., giveaways and a special concert.

As in years past, Piggott Christmas Fest will feature a variety of vendors around the courthouse lawn and downtown businesses will be open and offering special sales and promotions. There will also be free toy drawings, free hot dogs for those 16 and younger and at 1 p.m. Brian and Terri Kinder will appear at the gazebo in a special performance sponsored by Piggott State Bank.

And, kids ages 14 and under are welcome to enter a drawing for two bicycles, a boy's and a girl's, being given away at 3 p.m.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will also be in their house throughout the day, and everyone is invited to bring their camera for photos with the old elf.

Vendor space is still available, and those wanting more information may contact the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce at 870 598-3167 or by email at chamberpg@yahoo.com
