The Cougars are hoping to bounce back after a pair of tough losses in the past week.

Monday night, Rector fell to the hosting Armorel Tigers, 56-45.

A tough fourth quarter hurt the Cougars, as the hosts outpaced RHS 20-9 in the final frame. The teams entered the final period knotted up at 36-36, but the hosts seemed to have the advantage in terms of experience.

"Right now, we've got a lot of guys playing that have never played high school minutes before," RHS coach Matt Mills said. "We're learning on the fly. We'll figure it out, but it's going to take some time."

Armorel led 11-7 after the first quarter and 29-22 at intermission.

The bright spot for the Cougars in the contest was the play of senior Reed Weber. Weber was a beast down low for the boys in blue, tallying a game-high 27 points on the evening.

"Reed Weber had a fantastic game," Mills said. "I thought he established himself as a really good post player, and that's something he hadn't done to this point. He looked really good out there."

Adam Dinkins finished with nine points for the Cougars. Also scoring for Rector were Nick Hardin, five points, and Alec Scott, four.

The Junior Cougars fell to Armorel, 53-18.

Easton Tracy paced Rector with eight points. Also scoring for the Junior Cougars were Dustin Carter 5, Sam Simmons 3 and Kirk Beshears 2.

The Cougars fell to the visiting Pocahontas Redskins this past Tuesday in Rector, 62-42.

Pocahontas led throughout: 16-9; 27-21 and 44-33.

Dinkins paced the Cougars with 11 points on the night. Also scoring were Scott 8, Weber 6, Wes McCluskey 6, Landen Crancer 4, Chito Martinez 3, Garrett Buck 3 and Danny Hager 2.

The Junior Cougars lost to Pocahontas, 45-21.
