Longtime Local JP Doyne Holifield Dead at 69
Respected farmer and community leader Doyne Holifield died Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at the age of 69. His passing has been felt greatly by his family and the many who called him a friend.
Holifield, of Pollard, worked much of his life as a farmer in that community, earning a level of respect only those with the greatest prowess and dedication may achieve. He was known for his willingness to help others, having aided his fellow farmers in times of need with both his work in the field and his knowledge of farming.
Holifield also served Clay County as a justice of the peace, joining the Quorum Court in 2001, a position he maintained until his death. Holifield was known by his fellow justices and county officials as a patient and thoughtful man who sought the answers best suited for the needs of Clay County and its residents. As a justice of the peace, he served on numerous committees, and was typically one of the first to arrive in preparation for any meeting of the Quorum Court.
