Santa Claus will make his annual stop at the Piggott Band Boosters' Supper with Santa event on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Piggott Community Center. The chili supper will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will feature time for pictures with Santa along with performances throughout the night by the Swingin' Mohawks jazz band under the direction of Jeremy Wortham.

Another favorite feature of the special event, which is one of the main fund-raising events the boosters host each year, will be a silent auction featuring items from local businesses and individuals. A variety of items will be up for auction, including products from local donors as well as homemade food items created by local cooks.

"We are always so fortunate to have the support of area business owners and band boosters," said Ellen Meadows, secretary for the boosters group. "They always come through with all kinds of useful products, hand-crafted holiday decorations and wonderful food items such as homemade bread, fudge and chocolate rolls. We love seeing the friendly competition among people at the silent auction and want to thank the people who donate to us.

"It's one of the highlights of the Christmas season for us," she added. "The students have a more formal concert this month featuring our PHS concert bands and elementary bands, but this event will spotlight just our jazz band players. This has become a large community event and is always lots of fun."

Tickets will be available ahead of time from Piggott band students. They will be $5 prior to the event and $7 at the door. Children age five and under eat free. The ticket price includes chili with all the fixings, hot dogs, desserts and drinks.

Santa will make an appearance to visit with children and discuss their "wish lists." And, parents may purchase photos of their children with Santa if they choose.
