James Wesley Chronister
James Wesley Chronister, 84, of Piggott, Ark., died Monday, December 16, 2013, at Piggott Community Hospital.
Born October 14, 1929, in Clay County, Ark., to Virgil and Bessie (Parrish) Chronister, he married Ella Hardin on Nov. 26, 1949. Mr. Chronister retired from Missouri Pacific Railroad and from Emerson Electric in Kennett. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Piggott.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Chronister of the home; three sons, Virgil Dale Chronister and wife, June, of Piggott, James Chronister of Joplin, Mo. and Keith Chronister and wife, Barbara, of Rector. He is also survived by one brother, Cecil Chronister of Pilot Knob, Mo.; two sisters, Dora Bass of Paragould and Brenda Chronister of Florida; eight grandchildren, Gary Chronister, Brande Chronister Boyd, Renee Osgood Fuller, Starla Osgood Baker, Leah McCoy, Daniel Chronister, Tracy Chronister and Jake Chronister; 16 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one son, Danny Chronister; one daughter, Janet Chronister Osgood; one brother, Ray Chronister and two sisters, Dorothy Chronister Anderson and Linda Chronister.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013 at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Rector, with Kevin Murray officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Heights Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from noon until service time at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Rector, Thursday.
