Memorial services for Donald Cox, 79, of Davenport, will be held at a later date.
Donald passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Aledo Health Care Center, Aledo, Ill. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Donald Laverne Cox was born on July 8, 1934 in Desoto, Wis., the son of Forest and Ruby (Inman) Cox. He worked for the Army Corp of Engineers for 16 years as a Lock and Dam operator for Pool 13. He retired in 1975.
Donald was a life-time member of the V.F.W. and had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his sons; Charles Cox and his special friend Tristan Martin of New Orleans, La., Donavon (Sherry) Cox of Pollard, Ark., Jason (Diane) Cox of Davenport and Clinton (Jennifer) Cox of Denver, Colo.; a daughter; Mindy (Carl) McGinnis of Piggott, Ark.; nine grandchildren along with special nieces and nephews, Bonnie and Jim Copper, Dave and Diane Copper, Dave, Nancy and Tom Tower.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.
