Jack Thomas, 75, of Palatka, Fla., passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Haven Hospice in Palatka. A native of Batesville, Miss., Jack resided in Putnam County since 2003 moving there from Lake Wales, Fla. He was a 1957 graduate of Qulin High School and served honorably in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1962. He later received his AA degree from Florissant Valley Community College in St. Louis, Mo. Jack retired as an inventory control manager from McDonald-Douglas (Boeing) after 33 years of service. Jack's spiritual involvement was with the New Life Fellowship in Lawrenceville, Ga. He was heavily involved in the communities he resided in including his lifetime membership in Elks Lodge# 2092, American Legion Post #3349 and Moose Lodge #183.
Survivors include Jack's wife of four years, Kay Barker Thomas of Palatka; his two children Jennifer Lynn Thomas Dade, (John) of Hollywood, Md. and his son Jack Stacey Thomas (Lisa) of Lexington Park, Md.; his brothers, William Thomas (Jeanette) and Danny Thomas (Iris); sisters, Shirley Whalen (Charles), Joann Hall (Charles) and Bettina Johnson along with sisters-in-Law Shirley Thomas and June Thomas. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Lindsay Margaret Dade, Quinton Thomas Dade, Victoria Rock and Elizabeth Rock as well as many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded by his parents, Burnice "BT" and Hortense Thomas and two brothers, J.B. Thomas and James Thomas.
Graveside services and burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014 at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Fla. with Rev. Bill Barker officiating and the U.S. Air Force conducting military honors. No visitation is scheduled.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent in Jack's memory to New Life Fellowship, P.O. Box 967, Dacula, Ga., 30019.
