Robert Roy Hardin
Robert Roy Hardin, 69, of Piggott, Ark., passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at the St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
He was born on October 22, 1944, in Paragould, Ark., and was the son of the late Robert Julian and Betty Jean (Holifield) Hardin.
He was united in marriage to Vada Grissom on June 5, 1964, and to this union three children were born.
He grew up as a member of Mars Hill Methodist Church and later became a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. Robert traveled to almost every state while working as a Pipeline Construction Worker for 39 years. He worked on the Transcontinental Alaskan Pipeline and was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 627.
He is survived by his wife Vada Hardin of Piggott, Ark.; children, Kevin Hardin of Piggott, Ark., Keith Hardin and wife Shara of Corning, Ark. and Stephanie Williams and husband Justin of Brookland, Ark.; five grandchildren, Shelby, Malorey, and Bryar Hardin, Jade Williams, and Spencer Hardin; one great-grandson, Declan Vezeau and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 12 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Boyd Wicker and Donald Foster officiating. Burial was in Mars Hill Cemetery near Crockett, Ark. Pallbearers were Freddie Hartsfield, Travis Boyd, Gary Howell, Don Poole, Gary Holcomb and Ronnie Romine. Honorary pallbearers were Rick Williams, Jim Seal, Roy Rogers, Houston Fry, Jim Gearhart, Gary Cummins and Billy Fielder. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark., was in charge of the arrangements. Visitation was held Friday, prior to services, at the funeral home.
