Roland David Tanner, 88, of Piggott, Ark., passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014, at his home.

He was born on November 26, 1925, in Piggott, Ark., and was the son of the late Patrick Henry and Martha Ada (Henson) Tanner.

Roland was united in marriage to Minnie J. Langston on Jan. 21, 1948, and to this union a son, Mark Tanner, was born.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, George, Robert, and Jess and two sisters, Blanch Greer and Rosie Trout.

Roland was a longtime member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Minnie Tanner; son Mark Tanner and wife Crissie of Pocahontas; two grandchildren, Blaine Tanner and wife Betsy of Dexter, Mo. and Tyson Tanner and wife Courtney of Maynard, Ark.; three great-granddaughters, Jordyn, Jade and Tessa and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Tanner Campbell officiating. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Ark. Pallbearers are Terry Pollard, Jackie Tanner, James Latimer, Monte Sanders, Bob Tidwell, Mike Cook, Don Trout and Chad Donner. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark., is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
