CCAC Members Attend ASU Production
With so much creative energy kept in check by Old Man Winter's snow, ice, and frigid temperatures, an explosion waited in the wings. Just a hint of sunshine and warmth created a burst of laughter and a celebration of the arts. Clay County Arts Council, Inc. marked the weekend of March 1, 2014, with an excursion involving thirty Clay County arts patrons who journeyed to Arkansas State University's Fowler Center for the stage production "Steel Magnolias. "
The Clay County Arts Council, Inc. honored three patrons of the arts by celebrating Southern camaraderie and a shared community spirit. The Arts Council and Friends of the Arts treated Mrs. Jessie Malin, Mrs. Pat Presson, and Mrs. Georgia Sallee to an evening of theatre. The honorees were applauded by fellow audience members at the Fowler Center for their years of support for the programming of the Clay County Arts Council, Inc.
These ladies represent the time-honored traditions of strong family, respectful manners, and gracious kindness. Shining as models of community, hospitality, and service, Mrs. Malin, Mrs. Presson, and Mrs. Sallee continue their involvement in their community through support of the arts, regardless of recognition or reward. So, on Saturday evening, with an ice storm hanging around off stage, a large group of Clay County Arts patrons celebrated at Newt's with an informal supper and then by attendance at the stage performance of "Steel Magnolias."
