Lady Mohawks Named 'Queens"
Based on their outstanding high school volleyball careers, two members of the Piggott Lady Mohawk squad will be taking part in the annual Queens of the Hardwood Friday evening at Nettleton. The annual fundraiser for City Youth Ministries will be played beginning at 7 p.m. in the Nettleton High School gymnasium. Among the players dressing out for the North squad will be Lady Mohawks Taylor Davis and Kacey Crossfield.
The event will allow the two talented seniors, and 30 others from across Northeast Arkansas one more opportunity to wear their high school colors on the volleyball court, and showcase their abilities.
Both Kacey and Taylor were All-Conference selections from 3A-Northeast this past fall, and both were named as All-State performers--an honor both Lady Mohawks also earned in their junior years. Both of the Mohawks have also been named to the All-State Tournament team, after playing in the postseason each of their years on the team. Crossfield was named to the All-State Tournament team at Searcy in 2012 and Davis was named to the honor this past fall for her performance at Harrison.
"I am so excited that they're getting this opportunity," noted first year Lady Mohawk volleyball coach Nikki Speer. "I am so proud of them."
The local players will also be taking part in a kid's clinic, being held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Friday afternoon prior to the contest.
