Charles Owen "C.O." Evans, 86, of Campbell, Mo., passed away Thursday, April 2, 2014, at the General Baptist Nursing Home in Piggott, Ark. He was born on November 9, 1927, in Mounds, Ark., and was the son of the late Charlie and Myrtle (Rodgers) Evans.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Georgia Warren Evans.
C.O. was a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Campbell, Mo. He taught school for 28 years at Piggott and Greenway School Districts and substitute taught for many more years.
Survivors include his wife, Luella Edmundson Evans of Campbell, Mo.; four children, Mickey Evans (Barbara) of Russellville, Ark., Rhonda Harlan (John) of Piggott, Ark., Charles Mark Evans (John) of Nashville, Tenn. and Angela Burkman (Tony) of Piggott, Ark.; three stepchildren, Larry Thompson (Betty), Darrell Thompson (Marie) and Debra Baker (Junior) all of Campbell, Mo.; grandchildren, Vance Evans, Barry Evans, James Harlan, Melinda Dunlap, Michael Harlan and Brandan Bradshaw; step grandchildren, Damon Thompson, Mika Siebert and Misty Hill; nine great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack Evans of Jonesboro, Ark. and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Mickey Evans officiating. Burial was in Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons, Vance Evans, Barry Evans, James Harlan, Bradley Dunlap, Michael Harlan and Brandan Bradshaw. Honorary pallbearers were great-grandsons, Josh Evans, Hayden Evans, Kyle Evans, Bryce Evans, Houston Dunlap and Tucker Dunlap.
Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark., was in charge of the arrangements.
