Clay County Relay for Life Schedule Set
Volunteers with the Clay County Relay For Life manned a fundraising booth on the square in Piggott Saturday, in conjunction with the annual citywide yard sale. A number of teams have been busy these past several months raising money for the annual Relay For Life, which is set for the first Saturday in May.
The first scheduled event being held in conjunction with the 2014 Relay For Life is a fundraising breakfast, set for 7 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 19 at the Piggott Community Center. The public is invited to attend, and will have the chance to enjoy all they wish to eat of pancakes, biscuit and gravy, bacon, sausage and drinks for just a $5 donation.
The annual survivor dinner will be held beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 26 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Piggott. The church is located at the corner of North Johnson Avenue and East North Street, just south of the Clay County Fairgrounds.
The dinner serves to officially kick-off the Relay For Life activities, and recognize this year's honored survivors.
Carnival is the theme for the 2014 Relay For Life, which is set to begin with registration for the survivor's walk at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 3. This year's Relay For Life is being held at Independence Park in Piggott, the city's baseball diamond complex, located on East Poplar Street one block south of East Main behind the elementary school campus.
Following registration, the annual survivor's walk will be held beginning at 10 a.m. with other activities and the relay continuing until 7 p.m.
The annual Relay For Life is held each spring and serves to benefit the American Cancer Society. All proceeds from the event benefit the ACS and the fight against cancer.
