CCAC to Host Puppet Theater
Bits N' Pieces Puppet Theatre will arrive in Rector for two shows on Monday, April 21. This national and international touring company is dedicated to "influencing the world of tomorrow by enchanting the children of today." The company wowed crowds in Rector last spring with their performance of "Aesop's Dinosaur Fable," and will bring the same high quality performance and presentation with this latest production, "Three Billy Goats Gruff."
The stage at the Rector Community Center will come to life with the retelling of the beloved Norwegian folk tale, "Three Billy Goats Gruff." Magical characters such as giants, goblins, and trolls populate a fairy tale, and these exciting characters are sure to entertain. These stories have been around thousands of years, but the folk tale will always have a lesson or moral, and will end "happily ever after."
Bits N' Pieces Puppet Theatre is unique because it tells the story through multiple art forms: puppetry, visual art, vocal music and vivid costumes. The puppets, created over a period of two years, are giant size and glow in the dark. The unique experience has been expertly crafted by master puppet builder Holli Rubin, executive director Jerry Bickel and composer Pegg Callahan
Students and adults will thrill to this musical puppet theatre, a larger-than-life production of "The Three Billy Goats Gruff, to be presented twice on Monday, April 21, at the Rector Community Center. The production will host a morning show beginning at 9 a.m. and a later show beginning at 12:30 p.m. School children from the local area and neighboring communities will attend, accompanied by their teachers. Pre-school children are welcome, as are toddlers with their parents. Admission is $5 for all and may be paid at the door.
Bits 'n Pieces Theatre is returning to Rector through a partnership with the Clay County Arts Council and several area sponsors. The Council wishes to thank those businesses who have underwritten this performance, including Glen Sain Motor Sales, Centennial Bank of Rector, Graves Gin Company of Rector, Piggott State Bank and First National Bank of Piggott.
