Seegraves Kids Take Little Rock Titles
Emilee and Shawn-Hudson Seegraves of Piggott continue to enjoy great success on the tennis courts this spring, and recently brought home the titles in their age divisions from a tournament at Little Rock.
The wins came in the Country Club of Little Rock Championships, played April 11 through 13 in the capitol city.
In her division, Level 5 for 14 and under girls, Emilee took the clay court championship and retained her top ranking in the state of Arkansas.
Based on her ranking Emilee earned a bye in the first round, then beat Grace Harris of Pulaski Academy (31st in state) 6-3 and 6-3 in the second round of play. In the semi-finals she downed Via Bruffet (26th in state) of Pulaski Academy 6-2 and 6-3. And, in the championship set she defeated Sophie Davis of Russellville, (ranked 7th in the state) 6-0 and 6-1.
The victory also insured she would retain her top ranking in the state.
Meanwhile, Shawn-Hudson also brought home the title from the Country Club of Little Rock Championship, winning four sets in the process. In the first round he beat 10th ranked Vignesh Saravanan of Little Rock 4-0 and 4-0, and followed that up with a 4-0 and 4-0 sweep of Sam Bowman of Little Rock in round two. In the third round he beat the 37th ranked player in the state, Jeffrey Priebe, 4-0 and 4-0 to advance to the final. And, in the championship he downed Garrett Grace of Little Rock, the 33rd ranked player in the state in his age division, 4-0 and 4-0.
With the tournament victory Shawn-Hudson moved up to second in the state rankings in his division.
Emilee and Shawn-Hudson are the daughter and son of Paul and Heather Seegraves of Piggott.
