Lannie "Squirrel" Samples

Lannie "Squirrel" Samples, 64, of Holcomb, Mo., passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Samples was born February 22, 1950 in Frisbee, Mo. and was the son of the late Martin and Lucille (Dye) Samples.

On April 14, 1978, in Campbell, Mo., he was united in marriage to Kathy Hickson Samples, who survives. Mr. Samples had worked in the fertilizer industry and as an assistant cotton ginner for years. His favorite thing to do in his spare time was crappie fishing. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include three sons, Bryan Samples and wife, Shelly of Piggott, Ark., Mark Samples of Paragould, Ark. and Kyle Samples of Malden, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Alek Samples, Lydia Samples, Hunter Samples, Hayden Samples, Bryan Samples, Haylee Samples and Jeremy Samples and one great-granddaughter, Aubree Samples.

Other survivors include three brothers, Morris and wife, Mae Samples of Demopolis, Ala., Jack and wife, Glenda Samples of Sallisaw, Okla. and Gary and wife, Judy, Samples of Apple Valley, Calif. and two sisters, DeLois and husband, Joe Moore of Bonneville, Miss. and Susie Hall of Clarkton, Mo.; two sisters-in-law Kathy Samples of Holcomb, Mo. and Shirley Samples of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and brother-in-law Jerry Holsten of Holcomb, Mo.

Mr. Samples was preceded in death by one son, Keith Martin Samples; two brothers, Patrick Samples and Jim Samples and one sister, Sheila Holsten.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3 in the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Campbell with Rev. Kim Hellebush officiating. Burial was in the Landess Addition-Woodlawn Cemetery in Campbell. Visitation was held prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
