Mohawk Junior Track Team Third at District

Freshman Bret Fuller led the points effort, taking third in the 100 meter, second in the high jump and providing punch for some of the relay teams. The girls team also enjoy participation with seventh grader Sawyer Hendrix taking eighth in the 110 meter hurdles and ninth in the 100 meter dash.
Meanwhile, Justin Goding also ran in the boy's 100 meter race and placed fifth and Hayden Lemons was 11th in the boys 200 meter, with Austin Moore and Trey Gossett also competing. Fuller's leap of 5 foot 4 inches was good enough for second in the high jump for the boys, while Bautista and Hall placed 14th and 17th in the girl's long jump competition. Dalton Morris also competed in the long jump for the boys team and brought home ninth place honors.
Meanwhile, Elijah Bellers, Lemons, Cade Harrell and Hardin all competed in the triple jump, taking 10th, 11th and tying for 12th respectively.
In other field events, Gilkison finished sixth in the discus and Nate Mallard was second in the shot put with a distance of 41 feet and six inches.
Based on the fact the majority of the team members are eighth graders, with a few seventh graders participating as well, next season looks just as bright for the Piggott Junior High Track Team.
