Hendrix to take over RHS football program

David Hendrix has been hired as the new head football coach for Rector High School. The announcement was made during a very brief special meeting of the Rector School Board Thursday night. Hendrix also will serve as head softball coach

Hendrix, a 1988 graduate of Clay County Center, is a native of Rector. He coached football and baseball at the school early in his career before taking positions at Corning, and most recently, Piggott, where he was the head coach of the Mohawks from 2006 through this most recent season.

The Board discussed no other topics during the meeting. Previous head football an softball coach Lewis Earnest remains employed by the school at this time.

Superintendent Johnny Fowler joined Board members Jody Simmons, Kirk Ford, Tony Lockhart and Kim Isom in attendance, with Board member James Turner unable to attend due to health concerns.
