Weldon Irby, 104, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Rector, passed from this life on Thursday, May 22, 2014. He was born on Jan. 28, 1910. in Rector to the late William F. and Naomi (Coepland) Irby.
Weldon was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Roxie (Martin) Irby; second wife, Jeanne (Zoback) Irby; third wife, Linda (Russell) Irby; one son, William H. Irby; great-grandson, Joshua B.W. Irby, and one stepson.
Mr. Irby is survived by his fourth wife, Jacquelyn L. Irby; one son, James W. Irby and wife Nan; 10 step children; five grandchildren, Joseph, Heather, Marla (Tom), Kenneth and Nancy (Wade) Irby; great-grandchildren, Eva Gamble (Keever), Katie Saxton, Jesse Irby, Morgan and Luke; four great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Weldon was a longtime member of the Masons and The Scottish Rites. He retired from the mining industry as a maintenance supervisor of the Mill at Pima Mining Co. in 1977. He had many interests that occupied his time after retirement. The main one was being a partner in Irby's Refrigeration with his son, James. In later years, Weldon repaired bicycles and donated them to children.
Funeral services will be held at Cactus Community Church in Tucson, Ariz., on May 31, 2014, and graveside services will be held at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector at a later date with Irby Funeral Home of Rector in charge of arrangements.
