W.J. "Willie" McCurry

Mr. W. J. McCurry, age 87 of Rector, Ark., passed away May 28, 2014 at the General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell, Mo. Born in Aplin, Ark., he was the son of the late Luther and Birdie (Brown) McCurry and was a longtime area resident. Mr. McCurry was of the Baptist faith and had served our county in World War II as a Sergeant in the United States Army. He enjoyed gardening, his mules and horses and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mrs. Mildred McCurry of the home; one son, Bud McCurry and wife Vinda of Piggott, Ark.; two daughters, Paula Gargus and husband Larry of Rector, Ark. and Jennetta Brodrick and husband Kenny of Doniphan, Mo. Mr. McCurry also leaves seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. McCurry was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday May 30, 2014 at the Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton, Mo. with Rev. Griff Walker officiating. Faith Funeral Service of Manila, Ark. is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Bo Brodrick, Jon McCurry, Ben Stirnaman, Jason Brodrick, Cody McCurry and Scott Stirnaman.
