James F. Bennett
James F. Bennett, age 84, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor, Mich. He was born March 5, 1930 in McDougal, Ark., son of late William A. and Della D. (Dobbins) Bennett. He moved to Ann Arbor in 1947.
He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He met the love of his life, Mildred J. (Fielder) Bennett, in August of 1952. They married on May 16, 1953, and she survives. He retired in 1982 from Bendix Corp. (formerly Buhr Machine & Tool). He was the neighborhood watchman who loved to tinker. He could, and would, fix anything for anyone; he was a jack-of-all-trades. He loved nature, bird watching, bicycling and gardening.
He is also survived by his two daughters, Deborah M. Osborne and Beverly K. (Jeff) Fulton, both of Ypsilanti, Mich., son-in-law, Paul L. Rigan of Ann Arbor, Mich., ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two brothers-in-law, Noel Roach of Ann Arbor, and Robert Kaiser of Mahomet, Ill, two sisters-in-law, Mildred Jane Bennett of Pentwater, Mich. and Myrna Bennett of Ann Arbor, also numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by four sisters, two brothers, and one daughter: E. Annette (Bennett) Rigan.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 with services to follow at 11:00 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 11575 Belleville Rd., Belleville, Mich., 48111. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Belleville, Mich. Arrangements by David C. Brown Funeral Home of Belleville.
