State Rep. Joe Jett of Success (third from right) as he visited last year's Pollard Picnic and made a stop by the popular lemonade stand.

The schedule is set for the 82nd annual Pollard Picnic, to benefit the New Hope Cemetery, set for this Saturday, July 12. The annual fundraiser will be held at the picnic grounds, located north of U.S Highway 62 on the west edge of Pollard.

Once again this year Gary Conley will serve as the MC, and the day will officially kick-off at 9 a.m. with the invocation, Pledge of Allegiance and playing of the National Anthem. Providing the sound system, and entertainment throughout the day, will be J.R. Rogers and the All Star Band.

As usual, there will be a number of booths offering various food, drink and games, with all proceeds benefiting the cemetery. The kitchen and air-conditioned dining room will also open at 11 a.m., and volunteers will be serving chicken dinners with all the trimmings throughout the day and into the early evening. There will also be a number of ballgames played throughout the day, featuring some of the area's top talent.

The first of several pageants will be held at 10 a.m., as Mister and Miss Baby Pollard are named from contestants ages birth to 12 months. At 10:30 a.m. the toddler contest will be held, with boys and girls ages one year to 24 months competing for the titles.

The pageant schedule continues at noon, with the petite mister and miss contest for boys and girls ages two to four.

At 2:30 p.m. the annual bubble-gum bubble blowing contest will be held, open to boys and girls up to the age of 12. Picnic organizers will also be recognizing the oldest man and woman present, and the person traveling the furthest to visit the picnic. Those wanting to register may do so at the bank stand.

At 3 p.m. the Little Miss Pollard pageant will be held for little girls ages 5 to 7, followed by entertainment on the main stage. The pageants continue at 5 p.m. with the Junior Miss Pollard pageant, for young ladies ages 8-12.

The annual auction of donated items will be held beginning at 7 p.m., and organizers note the number and quality of items is impressive.

The annual Miss Pollard pageant is set for 8 p.m. and is open to young ladies ages 13 to 18.

Throughout the day visitors to the picnic will also have the opportunity to sign-up for the drawings, and you do not have to be present to win. The drawings will be held following the Miss Pollard pageant, and prizes will include a quilt along with cash prizes of $50 and $100.

Organizers note the public is invited, and encouraged, to attend the annual Pollard Picnic.
