Mohawk Boy's Hoops Coach Named to Lead Baseball Tribe
The Piggott School Board finally acted on their lone vacant coaching position at their regular meeting on Monday, July 12, hiring current Mohawk boy's basketball coach David Reynolds as the next head baseball coach.
Reynolds, who has coached the Tribe basketball team the last two seasons, takes over the program from Shawn Hearn who stepped down earlier this spring. During his tenure, Hearn had great success with the program as he guided the Mohawks to multiple state tournament appearances, along with both district and regional championships.
Like his predecessor, Reynolds has a strong baseball background. A graduate of East Carter County (Mo.) he first attended TRCC to play baseball, and later transferred to Williams Baptist where he was also a member of the Eagle baseball squad.
"I'm excited for the opportunity to work with a program that has the recent success this one has had," Reynolds said of the opportunity on Tuesday. "Baseball has always been a big part of my life and something I thoroughly enjoy--I hope to pass that joy and effort on to the kids."
He'll be assisted both on the diamond, and the hardwood, by Alan Rabjohn who also brings a strong baseball background to the job. Rabjohn has also served as an assistant under Hearn the past few seasons for the Tribe.
With Monday night's board action the head coaches for all Mohawk sports are now set, although some shuffling of assistants could occur.
