Hillard Morris Pittman
Hillard Morris Pittman, 88, of Piggott, Ark., passed away July 28, 2014, at his home.
He was born on September 6, 1925, in St. Francis, Ark., and was the son of the late John and Ollie (Morris) Pittman.
He was united in marriage to Julia Runyon on Feb. 9, 1946, and to this union two daughters were born.
Hillard was a World War II Navy Veteran serving his country on the destroyer, USS Young (DD - 580), in the Pacific. He retired from Chevrolet Manufacturing in Flint, Mich., after 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Leland Pittman and two sisters, Estelle Vincent and Elwanda Mann.
He is survived by his wife, Julia Pittman of Piggott, Ark.; daughters: Rebecca Stockbridge and husband Jack of Waterford, Mich. and Susan Pittman and husband Peter Ullrich of Eau Claire, Wis. and two grandchildren, Ellen Stockbridge of Brooklyn, N. Y. and Matthew Stockbridge of Golden, Colo.
The family would like to thank Teresa, Gerry, Terri and Shannon for their kind and loving care.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Rev. Jim Hillyer officiating. Burial is in New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Ark. Pallbearers are Matt Stockbridge, Ellen Stockbridge, Mike Mann, Tony Mann, Pat Kilbreth and Louella Shaw. Sonnie Vincent will serve as honorary pallbearer. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark., is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. on Thursday and will continue until service time.
