Mini Takes the States Tour Visits Region

Monday, August 4, 2014
Much like snowflakes, they say no two Mini's are exactly the same. Pictured are several of the cars taking part in the Mini Takes the States Tour as they passed through Piggott on Monday.

An estimated 1,200 to 1,300 Mini's were slated to pass through the Piggott area on Monday, Aug. 4, as part of the Mini Takes the States Tour.

The caravan originated in San Francisco on Saturday, July 26, and has already visited a number of cities, including Reno, Nev., Wendover, Utah, Grand Junction, Colo., Lubbock, Austin and Dallas Tex. and Memphis.

They were scheduled to spend Monday night in the St. Louis area, and take part in activities at the race facility in East Alton, Ill. From there they'll be off to Chicago, Cleveland, Buffalo and Bethlehem, Penn. before ending their journey Aug. 9, in Boston.

One of the participants is also posting a daily blog with stories about various locations and cities they've visited along the way.

More details, and comments from some of the participants, may be found in the Aug. 6 print and online editions of the CCTD.
