Rebecca Sue "Suzie" Johnson
Rebecca Sue "Suzie" Johnson, 56, of Piggott, Ark., passed away on August 21, 2014, at her home in Pollard, Ark.
Sue was born on October 12, 1957, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She became a Christian at the age of 12. She served as choir leader, Sunday School teacher, youth leader and piano player at Trailers General Baptist Church at Pollard, Ark.
She was married to Loran Johnson on July 1, 1979, and to this union two children were born.
Sue is survived by her husband, Bro. Loran Johnson; daughter, Melissa Terry; son and fiancÚ, Richard Johnson and Sue Ann; son-in-law, Mike Burns; grandchildren: Kassidy, Dalton and, Piper Burns of Piggott, Ark. and Gage and Little Rickie of Pollard, Ark.; two brothers: Rick Culver and wife Vicki of Pollard, Ark. and David Culver of Pollard, Ark.; brother-in-laws: Carl Johnson and wife Becky of Pollard, Ark., Vernon Johnson and wife Teresa of Piggott, Ark. and Gene Johnson and wife Carla of Piggott, Ark.; six nieces, eight nephews, six great-nieces, and eight great-nephews. She is also survived by her aunt Pauline Rodery Jenkerson of Piggott; cousins: Elizabeth Hunt Fillinger and husband John, John Michael Fillnger and wife Laura, Katie Fillinger, Nancy Hunt Bauer, Christian and Cameron Bauer ,all of Michigan, along with many cousins and friends, and church family.
Those who preceded her in death were her father, Virgil "Peck" Culver; mother, Lessie (Blackwell) Culver; father-in-law, Richard "Red" Johnson; mother-in-law, Delores Rodery Johnson; paternal grandparents, Eldie and Etta (Vaughn) Culver; maternal grandparents, Roy and Dolly (Matchett) Blackwell and aunt, Belle Culver Hunt Cumins.
Sue graduated from Piggott High School in May 1976 and from Mississippi County Community College in 1995 with an Associate Degree as a Registered Nurse. She worked at the Piggott Community Hospital as an Emergency Medical Technician, an office nurse for Dr. Jerry Muse at the Duckworth/Muse Medical Clinic, in the Operating Room at the Piggott Community Hospital and on-call for the ambulance, Piggott Community Hospital as an RN, Campbell Nursing Home as RN, East Arkansas Area of Aging as a RN and at the Corning Rehab and Nursing Center as an RN.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug.23, 2014, in the Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in Piggott, Ark., with Bro. Loy Culver and Bro. Mark Trout officiating. Burial is in New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Ark. Pallbearers are Ritchie Culver, Cody Culver, Michael Culver, Matt Culver, Matt Mauldin, Travis Johnson, Michael Johnson and Scott Anderson. Honorary pallbearers are Brian Johnson, and Kenny VanWinters. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
